My name is Laura and SageLoves has been my brain child for the past year. I was always on the hunt for small unique brands to gift to friends and family, and in turn was always asked to hunt out gifts for them… that’s when my idea was born! Finally, I was able to put finger to touch screen 6 months ago, when I launched SageLoves website and social media platforms.
In a nutshell SageLoves is a personalised gift finding service with the added benefit of membership deals and discounts. You sign up, give me the brief and leave the rest to me. It’s the red-carpet treatment, no trawling the shops, internet etc…I work closely with a huge range of independent and unique brands and together a gift for specific occasions can be found.
How can people book you?
By visiting my site, simply sign up and away we go. I will liaise with you via email and ask you for a personal brief of the giftee and what kind of thing you’re after (if you don't have a clue then just leave it to me!) a lot of people know what they want but can't find that special something, this is when SageLoves really excels as I have an extensive list of small brands who I have collaborated with to bring you the most personal, outside the box, kind of gifts and in turn I can also provide some very special discounts to sweeten the deal which you wouldn't get if you were shopping on the high street.
What's your favourite bit of your SageLoves work?
When I find "that" gift and I know my customer is going to love it!!! Getting feedback from a happy customer makes my day and even better when that customer tells me how much the giftee thought it was brilliant. That's what makes me love what I do!!
Do you think we are losing the art of gifting?
In a way yes, I think it's so easy to just give someone a gift voucher and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that (believe me, as a working mum of two I do this!) but getting something a little more personal, or unique really is so special, it's all about creating memories.
Aside from running SageLoves what else do you do, how do you combine the two?
I also work part time in London, once the kids are in bed I then start work on SAGELOVES. The great thing about Social media is that it's so mobile. I can be on the train to work and come across the most fabulous idea for a pressie by just scrolling through IG. Being a working mum is hard but I just have to manage my time as best as I can. Luckily, I have a very supportive husband and a fantastic circle of friends and family, I don't know what I'd do without them. There is so much pressure on women these days to be perfect and keep up appearances, sometimes you've just got to sit back and say "I need help" I need a break... I just need an hour to myself. For me SageLoves is a little escape though, who doesn't love shopping???
Where do you get your inspiration?
A lot my ideas come from my slightly strange brain, and then it's all down to finding that actual product which can take a while, I find that shopping small is the way to get that unique gift, quality local brands really give me the unusual, individual products that I'm searching for, I'm so lucky to live in an area that has so many small passionate businesses, they really are my inspiration behind most of my gift ideas.
You are a mum of two, how old are your children?
I have a little girl Etta who just turned three and a cheeky boy called Artie who is one. I love shopping for kids and giving friends ideas for their children's birthday presents. For Etta's birthday she was very lucky and received a beautiful Dutch style mint green bike... I'm quite jealous of it!
